Everything You Need to Know about Certified Med Tech Classes

There is plenty to know about starting your career as a Certified Med Tech. To begin, there are some basic requirements. For example, you must be at least 18 years old. In addition, you need to have your high school diploma or G.E.D. While a college degree is helpful, it is not mandatory for this role. Finally, you must be fluent in English. 

Afterwards, you should complete educational and experience requirements. Depending on your state, you may need to become a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) before obtaining your Certified Med Tech licensing. Typically, it takes 6-12 months to become a CNA. 

Furthermore, the courses can be helpful, and particularly those in entry-level roles without prior experience are recommended to take these classes. By doing so, you will gain the necessary knowledge and understanding to perform your tasks later on. Certified Med Tech courses often range from 16 to 60 hours, and can be taken in-person, hybrid, or fully remote. 

Next Steps to Obtaining Med Tech Certification

Once you have completed your CMT course, it is time to apply for the licensing exam. When you pass, you will now be able to work as a CMT in your state. One thing to remember is that every state has different procedures. For example, every 6 months Certified Med Techs in Philadelphia must be observed by an authorized PA State Trainer. This helps ensure that every med tech is following the appropriate rules and practices.

It is important to note that if you move to a different state, you will need to pass that state’s Med Tech Licensing Exam, even when you already passed your exams in your previous state.
