RN Online Programs: What Options are Out There?

Because nurses are in high demand, more training program options are becoming available. There are two main paths you can choose when becoming a registered nurse. First, you can choose to get an associate’s degree in nursing. It is the fastest path to a nursing career. Secondly, you can choose to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This takes longer, but it is preferred by many employers.

RN online programs offer flexibility for people who can’t attend classes in person or who are working. These are great options for CNAs and LPNs looking to become registered nurses. There are many different online programs and schools to choose from.

What Four-Year School RN Programs are Available?

There are many RN online nursing programs available all around the country, some of which include:

  • University of Cincinnati
      • The University of Cincinnati offers online nursing degree programs at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels. They offer an accelerated entry and post-graduate certificate program for students who meet specific criteria and want to expand their existing degrees.
  • East Carolina University
      • This university also offers all three tiers of nursing degrees. They have an online curriculum curated for students with different backgrounds in nursing experience.
  • Winona State University
    • Winona University offers online learning, especially for its RN-BS completion program. It allows flexibility for working while advancing your degree.

What Two-Year School Registered Nurse Programs are Available?

Two-year schools offer accredited degrees that are either associate’s degrees or BSN completion programs. Completion programs are for people who are already nurses and want to become registered nurses. Some of these registered nurse programs are:

  • National Park Collage
      • This program is linked to Arkansas Tech University and helps nurses earn associate’s degrees and their RN licenses. They can then continue their BSN coursework online.
  • John A. Logan College
      • This associate program focuses on LPNs that have been practicing for at least a year. It helps them earn an associate degree in nursing and become eligible for the NCLEX-RN examination.
  • Minnesota West Community and Technical College
    • This program also focuses on practicing LPNs. Once you have earned your associates, you can take advantage of university linkage programs if you want to pursue further education.
