- Providing ambulatory care for those who are unable to walk or have mobility issues
- Reporting the status of a patient back to the supervising doctor

Licensed practical nurses are qualified to work in a variety of environments. The most common include residential and nursing care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living establishments. They also work in hospitals, physician’s offices and in the home healthcare industry.
Working as an LPN can be difficult for some. because they are on their feet most of the day. They also assist many patients who are bedridden, which means there is a lot of lifting involved. Often times nurses work full time and many are required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

The job outlook for LPN jobs is expected to be good throughout 2028, because the position is projected to grow as much as 11%. This is because as the population of baby boomers gets older, there will also be an increased need for more nurses. That are within the residential healthcare and assisted living environments. Chronic conditions such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes are becoming even more prevalent. There will be a need for more nurses specialized in these areas for years to come.
